Finding Flow: The Quarterly Check-In

Here we are — the start of Q3 2026. Can you believe it?

Most people set their goals in January, feel good about them, and then quietly disappear back into the inbox. By the time summer arrives, the plan is in a drawer and the year is half gone.

That is the trap. A review done once a year is not a system. It is a hobby.

We started this year differently. Clear vision. One-page business plan. Quarterly milestones. Weekly and daily MITs. But a plan only works if you keep checking back in on it — and on yourself.

The tool I come back to every quarter for this is the Wheel of Life.

It maps the eight human needs that create real balance and resilience:

  • Business

  • Finance

  • Health

  • Family & Friends

  • Romance

  • Personal Growth

  • Fun & Recreation

  • Physical Environment

Take a few quiet minutes and score each area from 0–10. Be compassionate — no judgment. This is your own estimation. If you're single but feel fulfilled, that's a 10. If you're not yet at your financial target but you're on track and sleeping well, that's a 10 too.

Then look at your lowest three. Ask yourself: is there one area that, if strengthened, would lift the others?

Often it's something foundational — sleep, or getting personal finances back on track after a few months of drift. It doesn't have to be the lowest score. It just has to be the one that's quietly pulling the others down.

I know what some of you might be thinking: "I already know what's off. I don't need a wheel for that."

Maybe. But knowing and deciding are different things. The point of this exercise is not diagnosis — it is commitment. Which one area are you actually going to attend to for the next ninety days?

Think of it like the grizzly bear. It doesn't rely on salmon alone. When one resource dips, it adapts — berries, roots, whatever it needs. We build the same resilience by keeping all eight needs in view, not just the business ones.

Once you've found your focus area, let it feed directly into your weekly MITs for the rest of the quarter. Small, consistent attention here compounds powerfully.

This is how we stay free. This is how we keep flowing.

I'd love to hear how your scores look — and which one area you're choosing to move the needle on this quarter. Drop a comment below or send me a message.

Here's to a strong Q3.

Take care
